The Indomitable Class of 75

A thought-provoking, insightful and deliriously enjoyable romp through the collective mind of the Class of 75 - mightiest of the Fortianista! OK, so it's just another way to write stuff that everyone can read. But no! For with this method of weblogging you are empowered, dear reader. You can add your own drivel to the mass miscommunication that is the Internet!

Class of 75 - start blogging now

What is a webpage for if it isn't to communicate? What good is communication that is just one-way? Sadly your standard webpage doesn't allow for interaction - that old 2-way street - and neither will this blog! Well, it will allow some interaction - more that just a visitor's book allows anyway. Thus, in that spirit I present to you the power to comment - directly- upon these pages.

Feel free to say anything that relates to the Class of 75 re-union - or anything, really. Just remember that anyone could be lurking.

Cheers, Rob.

A Blog? What the hell is a Blog? Oh, a Weblog, you say. I think I understand. It's somewhere to write stuff that anyone can read. So you can share thoughts - oh, and images too? And people can comment directly on what you write?

Oh, I see - like me now. So this is a comment, eh? Cool. Well actually it's pretty dire - don't you have better things to do than read Blogs?

WOW! Who'd have thought in 1975 that I would be a blogette in 30 years time!

  • At 3:05 PM, Blogger gtveloce said…

    OK, "blogette", reveal thyself!

And who blogged and removed themselves? Suffering a crisis of confidence, or just testing your power self-censor?

    Was it you, blogette?

    OK...'twas I...The Blogette.

Blogette? Is that, like, as in "Blow Jet"? Blogette, did you mean Bloggette?

Well I'm not afraid to blog nonanonymously, having had my emotional state questioned and being accused of "lurking" by Robert Blogger Russell. Lurking? That's rich coming from a boy from the back streets of Marrickville!!
(At least I've still got my hair...yes, on my head!!)

There we are lads and lasses, a little petrol to start the fires in your blogging bellies...

    I can only say:

    "Come Fortians, Fortians all,
Now join the blogging chorus", or

"Fort Street's blogs ring 'round the world", or

    "Faber Suae est Quisque Blogae"

BTW.......he who comes from the back streets of Ashfield should not cast whatever it is you cast on one from the back streets of Marrickville!!!!!

Hmmmm - 'tis a rather blog free zone, but at least I'm not related to the site owner!!

The local Triads would be happy to see Jeff - always room for more Skippy in the Sushi.

    Yours in blogdom...

I'm never too tired to Blog. Blogging is such good fun. And you learn stuff from all those other bloggers out there. OTOH it's a total waste of time that doesn't advance my life one tad. Then again, apart from my kids, my wife, overall family and my cat, what has advanced my life by a fully grown authenticated tad? Oh yeah, friends. Yep, the house, the books, the CDs, my umpteeen pushbikes and the misbegotten car(s) are kinda handy to have, but are they advancing me by a tad, or just keeping me from focusing on the real issues? Oh, ok, penicillin, that's a real advance. Computers? The Internet? Hmmm... nice to have, certainly has cut down on my visits to bookshops and libraries but...is that good? Then again by blogging and reading others' blogs we are gaining and offering an insight that may be unobtainable otherwise - certainly it's waaay more immediate than the old snail-mail penfriends concept. (Still nice to get letters though, isn't it?) We could be breaking down cultural barriers here at a faster rate than ever before. This could indeed be worth a half-tad. Thoughts?

There is a rumour doing the rounds that Garth didn't really go to FSH and that the re-union is a hoax, or perhaps a giant bust ...

    hey everyone
sorry i'm slow to catch up [only 30 yrs]
this is great to see happening
hey rob russell, as i remember a nickname of your's was r-squared as in r to the power of 2
hey rod am looking forward to catching up with you
we need the old school photos from '75 to prove garth's authenticity!

  • At 6:17 PM, Blogger gtveloce said…

Garth's authenticity? We could have him valued and presented with a certificate. Or do you mean authentic in an existential sort of way? As in true to himself? I think it'll take more than just photos...

And yes, Son of an Eagle, I am the one formerly known as 'r-squared ', as in r to the power of 2. (I should extend that formula to describe a Poisson distribution, given the randomness of my thoughts...)

  • At 10:33 AM, Anonymous Rod B said…

Yes, as in one man's steak is another man's poisson.

Jonathon Livingstone Seagleson, we need to organise a 42 years since starting Primary School event, too!

joe pisano is on there amongst others.
    see u august my friend

hey, who can help me with that old song we used to sing?
there are more verses i can't quite recall?

    goes something like -

'raise a cheer, raise a cheer
for the fella who brews all the beer ...

it goes guzzle guzzle guzzle as you pour it down your muzzle in the cellars of old fort street school...

and theres time for one more as the boss breaks down the door in the cellars of old fort st school!'

  • At 9:00 PM, Anonymous Hools said…

Seagullson - I have the complete list of school songs at work, I'll dig 'em out on Monday ... or Tuesday or ....whenever I remember !

I've gotta say the one we guys had up until 1974 was pretty damn macho, plenty of thrusting crescendos and the like, but as for the one they sing NOW (and Cate & Carlo can confirm this), there's a whole bunch of "rah rah rah's" in there, sounds slightly, dare I say it in these enlightened times .... effeminate !

Will email you the doc as I say, then you can make your own mind up !

  • At 12:19 PM, Anonymous Rod B said…

    Seagullson,
    It goes like this...

    Raise a cheer
    Raise a cheer
For the boys who brew the beer
In the cellars of old Fort Street school.

    Alcohol!
    Alcohol!
Just one sip and you will fall
In the cellars of old Fort Street school.

    So it's guzzle, guzzle, guzzle
As it trickles down your muzzle
Shout out your orders loud and clear
    MORE BEER!!

And it's time for just one more
As the boss breaks down the door
In the cellars of old Fort Street school.

(Alright Davies, not so fast next week, thanks.)
